Devil’s Hunt Looks Like a Wild Ride Through Hell

Based on Równowaga, a novel by Paweł Leśniak, Layopi Games developed Devil’s Hunt, a third-person hack-and-slash game. Devil’s Hunt released today for PC, PS4 and Xbox One.

The protagonist, Desmond, has gotten himself into some hellacious trouble. The details are unclear (though I’m sure players will learn all about him in Devil’s Hunt’s touted 90 minutes of cinematics) but any time that someone gets in trouble with the devil and walks away with demon powers, that can’t be a good sign.

The promotion material for Devil’s Hunt leans heavily on the decide-the-fate-of-humanity trope, which always seems to be the case in these angels vs. demons showdowns. What caught my attention wasn’t the plot, but the visual style of the game.

Throwing punches with Desmond’s lava arms (courtesy of demonic powers, I’m sure) leaves burning embers fluttering behind him as he shows off the latest moves he learned in devil karate class. The trailer shows off a few of Desmond’s moves, but sparks and embers from his lava-punch attacks added a bit of eye candy to what would otherwise have been a standard-looking beat-’em-up scenario.

Devil’s Hunt is out now for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
