A few months ago, you may remember me writing about Bee Simulator. While Bee Simulator wasn’t a very challenging game, I get the feeling that Hive Time is more on track for being appealing to players who enjoy the management side of simulation games.
In Hive Time, players need to take care of their hive by gathering resources to keep the Queen healthy. The developer, ValiantCheese, is honest in that the game is “totally scientifically inaccurate” but I don’t think a scientifically accurate experience would be that fun anyway.
Besides managing the hive, players will be able to interact with other creatures like wasps, slugs and a friendly caterpillar.
Hive Time’s soundtrack is available on Bandcamp, with 50% of the proceeds going to the Bumblebee Conservation Trust. Both the soundtrack and the game are available for a pay-what-you-can price point, but ValiantCheese suggests $10 as a fair price.
Hive Time is available on itch.io. The game’s page features technical help, a controls reference guide and (most exciting) cheat codes.
