NX Games announced that its upcoming action platformer, JackQuest: Tale of the Sword, is set to release by the end of the year. The pixelated platformer’s announcement came with a release trailer that gives viewers an idea of what they can expect to encounter in the cavernous lair of the evil orc Korg. While the story of JackQuest looks a little outdated, the gameplay shown off in the trailer looks like it will more than make up for the games lack of narrative innovation. The combat looks quick and the press release that came with the game’s announcement promised that players will explore, solve environmental puzzles, discover power-ups, obtain new abilities, collect weapons (though I have the feeling you’ll be working with a sword most of the time) and fight “massive” bosses.
I can ignore a bland story if the game is fun enough. Who knows though, maybe the story is full of twists and turns. Those of you attending PAX AUS 2018 in October will be able to find out more than I will though, as the game’s publisher Blowfish Studios is planning on showing off JackQuest: Tale of the Sword at the convention.
JackQuest: Tale of the Sword is expected to be released in “late 2018” for Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.
