Bad North from Plausible Concept released through the First on Discord program a few weeks ago. Now it’s about to release on Steam, to a far larger audience.
As a self-described “real-time tactics roguelike,” Bad North has players running a small community of settlers who are fleeing, island to island, from pursuing vikings eager to plunder and murder. The islands that your settlers leapfrog to and from are procedurally generated, so you’ll never know what to expect until you get there and see for yourself.
According to the developer in their Steam release announcement, the Steam version will contain new updates including a new campaign map with updated visuals and animations, and new ways to customize islands in the level editor. At the end of the announcement, the developers promise that even more content is coming in the future but they don’t elaborate on what that could include.
Bad North is available now on Discord, but will release on Steam on November 16. Bad North is also available, and out now, for the Nintendo Switch, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
