Pokemon Sun/Moon Review – Fun in the Sun

Pokemon Sun/Moon Review – Fun in the Sun

Let me begin by saying that this is not a full-review of Pokemon Sun. I likely will never fully-complete this game, and let’s be honest, it’s just as likely that you won’t either. Pokemon games are huge time sinks and completing a Pokedex isn’t even the main quest of the game, it’s just something to brag about. While most of the hardcore Pokemon fans have already sunk a good chunk of time into the game, some of you may still […]

The Humble Nintendo Bundle Is Filled With 3DS and WII U Games

Today Humble launched the Humble Nindie Bundle, a games bundle featuring Nintendo 3DS and Wii U titles. All eight games in the bundle are from independent developers (get it? Nindie…Nintendo + Indie?), so you won’t be finding Mario or Pikachu in the mix, but you will find some top-tier indie games. Humble Bundles tend to grow by a few games about halfway through their lifespan, but as things currently stand, this is what you can get for the various Humble […]

Geek Speak Daily 8/18/11 “Peppy Hare”

PEPPY HARE – from Nintendo’s Star Fox For the non-nerds: Peppy Hare is a prominent member of the Star Fox team. He is the rabbit most commonly quoted on the internet for saying, “Do a barrel roll!” in the first level of Star Fox 64. Peppy flew alongside James McCloud and Pigma Dengar, before Pigma betrayed them to intergalactic villian, Andross. While Peppy was able to escape the ambush, James was unable to escape. Peppy returned to James’ son, Fox […]

Algorithm ‘De-Pixelizes’ Video Games in Real Time

Johannes Kopf and Dani Lischinski have created an algorithm that ‘de-pixelizes’ games in real time, resulting in smoother, cartoon-ier looking graphics for classic console games. The key of the algorithm is that it can detect the intention of curves and adjust the graphics accordingly. Thus removing the blocky look of older games. There is a downside to the algorithm though. It does not realize when curves are unintended. Look at the Space Invaders example below. Do you think when Space […]

Next Nintendo Console to be Revealed at E3 2011

GameInformer has announced that their staff has confirmations from various sources that claim Nintendo will officially announce  their next console at this years E3. The console is to be Nintendo’s first HD system, bumping them a generation behind their competition, due to the Wii’s lack of HD support. However, Nintendo was almost a console ahead of the competition with motion-based gaming, as both Sony and Microsoft waited nearly to the end of the current generation’s life span before implementing an […]
