The Star Wars Identities art tour began this month in Montreal, Canada. The art exhibit will tour twelve cities on a six year world tour.
From the Identities website: “Star Wars Identities looks at the Star Wars films—and at what makes someone who they are—through the lens of the sciences of identity. This includes genetics, neuropsychology, health sciences, and psychology”
The exhibit is designed to show how a person becomes who they are, focusing on three major themes: Origins, Influences, and Choices.
“From a scientific perspective, visitors learn how these components affect identity. Ten videos, one per component, combine clips from Star Wars with animated graphics explaining how each component plays a part in shaping who we are—“we” in this case referring simultaneously to the fictional characters of the Star Wars universe and to the visitors themselves.”
The traveling exhibit features over 200 original costumes, props, models, and original pieces of art. Visitors will also have the opportunity to find out what sort of hero (or villain) they would be, if they existed in the Star Wars universe.
Exclusive merchandise will be available at each event, as well as online at the Star Wars Identities online store.
Event organizers urge visitors to purchase their tickets ahead of time, online.
