Daniel Licht, best known as the composer for Showtime’s series, Dexter, has composed the soundtrack for the upcoming Silent Hill: Downpour.
Licht commented about this entry in the Silent Hill series, “I’m inspired by the mood and the story. I came up with a sound world that I feel amplifies and augments the player’s experience. I incorporated numerous instruments including piano, mandolin, and industrial sounds.” Getting his start, scoring for a Stephen King film (Thinner:IMDB), Licht developed a style of music that generates a creepy, yet tense mood. Just listen to the Dexter “Blood Theme”.
Traditionally, creepy and ambient soundtracks have been one of the center pieces of the Silent Hill video games. Here are a few samplings from previous games.
I have a feeling that Licht’s work will be amazing within the game. I can’t wait to hear it.
The soundtrack for Silent Hill: Downpour will be available to purchase on March 13, simultaneously with the release of the game.
