Unlike in the previous two Bioshock titles, the protagonist of Bioshock Infinite gets a face. That’s not saying the characters you played as in Bioshock 1 and 2 lacked a face, it is just that part of the mystery of the two games revolved around you figuring out exactly who you were.
For the third installment in the Bioshock franchise, Irrational Games is being open as to who exactly gamers will be playing as this time around. Booker DeWitt, is his name, a former Pinkerton Agent, tasked with finding and protecting the dashing Elizabeth through the flying city of Columbia in the year 1912.
A civil war has broken out across Columbia, much like the one that tore Rapture apart pre-Bioshock 1. Both sides, the Founders and the Vox Populi (Latin for “Voice of the People”) strive to take control of Elizibeth and her time-bending abilities.
Early trailers and images of the game reveal a handful of anachronistic occurences throughout Columbia, one in particular being a movie marquee displaying Revenge of the Jedi (the first name of the Star Wars: Return of the Jedi film which debuted in 1983.) These occurrences are the result of Elizabeth’s powers tearing apart time and space.
Expect to find more Bioshock Infinite news as we come closer to it’s Spring 2012 release date.
